Trimble announces the availability of the GeoExplorer® 6000 series of high-accuracy GNSS handheld computers

Bringing together the essential functionality for high-accuracy field work in one device, the GeoExplorer 6000 series delivers decimeter or submeter accuracy positioning, high quality photo capture, and integrated Internet connectivity options. Together with the latest field software and GNSS innovations—including Trimble Floodlight™ satellite shadow reduction technology—the GeoExplorer 6000 series establishes a new standard for GNSS system performance and handheld data capture.

Key features and benefits

220 channel GNSS receiver: High performance integrated GPS and GLONASS capable receiver and antenna. The GeoExplorer 6000 series GeoXH™ handheld achieves decimeter (10 cm / 4 inch) accuracy in real time, and the GeoXT™ handheld provides reliable 75 cm accuracy in real time and 50 cm accuracy after postprocessing.

Trimble Floodlight technology: Combining a range of innovative positioning techniques, Floodlight Technology dramatically increases the availability of positions and boosts accuracy in areas affected by satellite shadow.

5 megapixel autofocus camera: Field workers can take photos from the handheld as part of the workflow. No extra equipment, batteries, or file transfers are required.

3.5G modem: An optional 3.5G cellular modem delivers Internet connectivity to the field and facilitates continuous access to real-time map data, VRS™ network corrections, and live updates of field information while on location.

Sunlight readable display: Maintains exceptional clarity in all outdoor conditions, including direct sunlight. Text is crisp and easy to read. Background maps and photos are rich and vibrant.

Field swappable battery: Provides up to 11 hours of GNSS operation on a single charge, and can be swapped on-the-go without shutting down the device—enabling near-continuous operation and minimizing field worker downtime.
Accuracy and productivity. Anywhere the job takes you.: The GeoExplorer 6000 series offers improved handheld accuracy specification, and with Floodlight technology, high accuracy positioning is available in more places than ever before.

Integration: Field workers can collect high accuracy GNSS data, capture and link photos to features, and send and receive data from the field using a single device.

Designed for work: Designed with outdoor operation in mind, the GeoExplorer 6000 series is resistant to wind driven rain, dust, and drops. It has a broad operating temperature range and a purpose-designed screen for readability in direct sunlight.

Speed and capacity: Equipped with an OMAP 600 MHz processor, 256 MB SDRAM and 2 GB Flash internal storage, the GeoExplorer 6000 series delivers the horsepower to handle complex software applications and large datasets.

Trimble Releases Next Generation of TerraSync GPS Data Collection Software

Trimble has announced  the release of its next generation of Trimble® TerraSync™ software, a market-leading data collection and asset management application. TerraSync software is deployed in utilities, public sector, natural resources, and many other organizations throughout the world as a key component of enterprise Geographic Information System (GIS) data collection and asset management projects. The latest release focuses on updates requested by users to better address their changing needs.

The key enhancements include:

  • Intelligent data capture based on conditional attributes. TerraSync software data capture forms now dynamically adapt to previously entered attribute values for maximum data collection efficiency. Examples include making a conditional attribute hidden or visible, read-only, or required.
  • Customizable user interface. To simplify the field user experience, a new TerraSync Studio utility allows a configurable user interface to be developed so unneeded sections of the interface can be made invisible.
  • Faster raster map display. Using aerial photos or satellite imagery is now more efficient with raster map background redraw up to 25 times faster than rendering in previous TerraSync software versions, making it possible to work with much larger images.

In conjunction with the TerraSync software, a new version of Trimble GPS Pathfinder® Office software is available which includes enhancements to the Data Dictionary Editor to support conditional attributes as well as the new TerraSync Studio utility to develop and test customized user interfaces.
